Rostrum Medical to Present New Data at the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine

Rostrum Medical will attend the 34th European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (“ESICM”) LIVES congress that will take place from October 3, 2021, through October 6, 2021. ESICM’s annual congress, LIVES, attracts audiences of over 6,000 physicians, anaesthetists, trainees and nursing and allied health professionals, every year, from every continent. The ESICM congress will be a fully digital experience, offering discussion and debates, abstract presentations, scientific sessions, live voting and interaction, demonstrations, directly to our community.

Rostrum Medical has been selected to present in the congress for the second consecutive year.  This year, Dr. (Prof) Neal Fleming, will be presenting an abstract entitled “Non-invasive Monitoring of Pulmonary Blood Flow in Mechanically Ventilated Adults”. The abstract introduces a novel method of monitoring Pulmonary Blood Flow, utilizing Rostrum Medical’s patented VQm® Pulmonary Health Monitor which provides the pulmonary blood flow data in near real time, non-invasively at the patient’s bedside.

Dr. (Prof) Neal Fleming, Co-Author of the Rostrum abstract said “It has been exciting and rewarding to be part of the validation of this new, non-invasive technique for monitoring Pulmonary Blood Flow in mechanically ventilated patients.  The results to date have been positive, and this technology appears to offer an intriguing alternative to existing, invasive techniques”.

About VQm Pulmonary Health Monitor™

The VQm Pulmonary Health Monitor™ is a novel monitoring device that aims to provide clinicians with near real-time physiological insight into the effects of changes in lung mechanics of mechanically ventilated patients. The VQm PHM™ was developed with the intention to assist physicians in their management of mechanical ventilation by providing measurements of the following physiological parameters: Shunt Index (Qsi), Dead space, Pulmonary Blood Flow (PBF), and Functional Residual Capacity (FRC).  The VQm Pulmonary Health Monitor™ is now Health Canada approved.
